ABF Data Studio: China Latam Twitter Database Launch


The Andres Bello Foundation (ABF) – China Latin American Research Center presents the first product of the ABF Data Studio series: the China Latam Twitter Database.  

As part of our organization’s research on the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) public diplomacy in Latin America and the Caribbean, we present an interactive tool designed to assess the PRC’s digital diplomacy in the region.

Sebastián Castaño – Program Officer, Andres Bello Foundation

Political scientist with emphasis on international relations. Since 2013, Sebastian has worked as an advisor on international cooperation, human rights, and public policy for the Government of Colombia. Researcher in domestic and international security affairs.


Parsifal D´Sola Alvarado – Executive Director – Andres Bello Foundation

Chinese foreign policy analyst specializing in Sino-Latin American relations with a focus on Venezuela. Parsifal is a nonresident senior fellow in the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub. Between 2019 and 2020, he acted as Chinese foreign policy advisor to the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Interim Government of Venezuela.

Catalina Micolta Portocarrero – Senior Research Associate, Andres Bello Foundation

Foreign policy and public diplomacy analyst. María Catalina has research experience on the regional integration processes of the European Union, as well as on European Community Law with a focus on migration and security issues.

Juan Pablo Cardenal – Journalist, Researcher, and Writer

Between 2003 and 2014, Juan Pablo was a foreign correspondent in China where he covered a variety of topics related to China’s international outreach. Since then, he has investigated the impact of Chinese investments, infrastructure projects, and loans in over 40 recipient countries. Juan Pablo has published three books on the subject in addition to having contributed his analyzes and articles to El País, El Mundo, Clarín, The New York Times, Project Syndicate, the South China Morning Post, among others.
