Against the background of the pandemic and the current global economic and security situation, the slogan of the G20, which held its latest summit in Bali, Indonesia, was “Recover Stronger, Recover Together”. In line with this slogan, the 3 points put forward by G20 presidency for its agenda are: i) strengthening the global health architecture; ii) digital transformation; iii) energy transition. These issues are of great importance for the future of humanity, as are issues such as the global increase in food and commodity prices and the war in Ukraine, which were also discussed. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was present and, despite the discomfort caused, he did not obstruct the meeting in any way.

Within the framework of this meeting, Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero and the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs and State Councilor, Wang Yi, had a meeting in which the Chinese official expressed his support for Argentina to join the BRICS group. Both representatives also expressed their intention to strengthen their relations through more balanced and diversified bilateral trade and cooperation in different areas, including the preservation of natural resources and the reduction of freight rates for maritime trade.
