Brazilian authorities discovered 163 Chinese workers in conditions akin to slavery at a BYD factory construction site in Bahia, Brazil. The workers, irregularly hired in China by another company, faced long working hours, degrading conditions, restricted mobility, and had their passports confiscated. BYD stated it has severed ties with the hiring company, is cooperating with authorities, and is providing assistance to the affected workers. Investigations are ongoing, and no sanctions have been issued yet.
