Tianjin (China) and Cali (Colombia) strengthen ties
The cities of Cali (Colombia) and Tianjin (People’s Republic of China (PRC) signed an agreement to establish cooperation and relations with each other. This agreement promotes innovation, productive diversification, and the elimination of underinvestment and the scarcity of technological advances with a view to overcoming poverty and inequality.
The two cities began relations in 2021. Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Tianjin Municipal Government attended the online signing of the agreement, and both local governments have expressed their interest in promoting exchanges and cooperation between smart cities in the fields of urban governance, economics, commerce, culture, and education. The purpose of this is to achieve universal access to an inclusive digital society.
At the meeting, Jorge Iván Ospina, Mayor of Cali, held talks with Guo Xun Liao Mayor of Tianjin, his vice mayor, Wang Xu; the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Colombia, Lan Hu; the ambassador of Colombia in the People’s Republic of China, Luis Diego Monsalve; the secretary-general of the Municipal Government of Tianjin, Meng Qiangsong; and the director-general of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – FAO of Tianjin, Luan Jianzhang. The conference concluded with the signing of the letter by Guo Xun Liao and Jorge Iván Ospina.
