The People’s Republic of China has donated 449 pieces of equipment to Cuba for use in hydraulic construction activities. The donation encompasses a wide range of activities and includes over 30 types of devices. The official handover ceremony was attended by Inés María Waugh, the Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Antonio Rodríguez, the President of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, Déborah Rivas, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ma Hui, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Cuba, and Misael Rodríguez, the Secretary General of the National Union of Construction Workers.
The donation is part of the assistance project “Strengthening Drought and Sanitation Response,” which began in 2014 with a total amount of 27.8 million dollars. This contribution will improve water supply, reduce losses from leaks, and enhance the response capacity of the sanitation brigades of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources.
