Honduras and China Sign a New Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation

According to an article from the media outlet La Tribuna, Honduras and the People’s Republic of China signed a new Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation, through which they expect to develop cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.
This new agreement includes a donation of approximately 100 million dollars, equivalent to 700 million yuan. It is known that this donation will be non-reimbursable and that the amount will be used to finance joint projects between the two nations that are already underway, in areas such as infrastructure, health, education, among others.
The officials responsible for signing this new agreement and the memorandum of understanding for the joint implementation of the 2025 human resources development cooperation plan, which took place at the same meeting, were, on the Honduran side, Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reina, and on the Chinese side, Ambassador Yu Bo.
Regarding this memorandum of understanding, which was also signed, it is known that its objective is to strengthen exchange and cooperation in human resources development between the two countries, under the Global Development Initiative, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the China International Development Cooperation Agency, and other international cooperation mechanisms.
In relation to the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation, a total of 346 seminar slots were agreed upon in 12 bilateral cooperation programs on topics such as education, public administration, telecommunications technology, energy, and culture.
Regarding this, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Honduras, Yu Bo, commented that the signing of both the agreement and the memorandum of understanding will contribute to the development of the Central American country and its people.
For his part, Foreign Minister Reina expressed that it is an honor for him to close his term as Honduras’ foreign minister with the signing of this new agreement and memorandum, which will contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation between his country and China.
