According to a report by Forbes, smuggled Chinese goods valued at 300 million mexican pesos, which were attempting to enter through the Pantaco customs office, were seized by the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM). It is worth noting that the Pantaco customs office is one of the main entry and exit points for goods to and from the Valley of Mexico.
During this operation, various illegal products were confiscated, including hydraulic jacks, backpacks, executive chairs, speakers, clothing, bicycles, toys, drills, and electric skates, all originating from the People’s Republic of China, according to Rafael Marín Mollinedo, head of ANAM.
This seizure is part of the “Operation Cleanup” initiative led by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, aimed at combating piracy, smuggling, and dismantling ties between public institutions and criminal organizations.
The institutions that led this seizure of smuggled Chinese goods included the General Legal Directorate of Customs (DJGA), the General Directorate of Customs Investigation (DGIA), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the General Directorate of Customs Operations (DGOA).
Regarding this, ANAM reported that the goods were being transported in 33 containers, making this operation one of the most significant in recent efforts to combat piracy, illegal trade, and smuggling in Mexican territory. They also emphasized that these actions reflect ANAM’s commitment to enforcing Mexican regulations and legal standards.
Finally, it is important to highlight that security cabinet institutions, such as ANAM, are fully committed to the government’s policy of eradicating smuggling in Mexico. They reaffirm their commitment to continuing operations that allow for the seizure of illegal products that could negatively impact the population.
