Ambassador of Beijing in Panama handed over tactical equipment

The Chinese ambassador to Panama, Wei Qiang, delivered 6 thousand ballistic vests and 6 thousand tactical helmets valued at 4 million dollars to the Panamanian Ministry of Public Security, to “strengthen the cooperation agenda between the two nations.” The Naval Air Service and the National Border Service will receive 1,000 cases and 1,000 bulletproof vests each, while another 4,000 helmets and 4,000 vests will be delivered to the National Police. The ambassador also indicated that regardless of the country’s security situation, where the Chinese community in Panama is affected, “The Chinese government always aims to strengthen the cooperation agenda in multiple areas.”

For his part, the Minister of Public Security, Juan Pino, clarified that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been negotiating this donation since 2020, but that the process had been delayed due to the pandemic. The delivery ceremony took place on February 10 at the headquarters of the General Command of the National Police, in Panama City. Finally, in order to increase the number of surveillance and patrolling units of the land units and guarantee the safety of residents and visitors, the Association of Residents of Isla Contadora delivered a Kawasaki Mule 4010 4×4 to Deputy Director General Gorgonio Sánchez González for the National Air and Naval Service of the Public Force.
