Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Council (PromPeru) is a technical body that depends on the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR). It is attached to the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) and exercises its competences at national and international level. The organization has been implementing various actions to promote the national export offer in the Chinese market.

PromPeru’s actions contribute to increased exports of products such as avocados, blueberries, quinoa, coffee, marine products —such as shrimp and squid— wooden floors, alpaca dolls, as well as garments and accessories. PromPerú reported that actions to promote Peruvian coffee in the Chinese market have been carried out through trade offices abroad. This process started in 2018 through reverse missions to Peru, where samples, coffee tastings, seminars, and live broadcasts were presented to the public. As a result, Peruvian coffee shipments to China increased significantly from USD $486, 329 in 2018 to USD$1.7 million in 2021. On the other hand, they also highlighted the increase in exports of quinoa and alpaca toys to China, where foreign sales of these products totaled USD$ 3 million in the first three quarters of 2021, representing an increase of 193%.
