Discussion of China’s Global Development Initiative for Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Planning and Development, Penelope Beckles, met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Fan Qiu, to discuss the country’s accession to China’s Global Development Initiative. This initiative prioritizes innovation-driven development with a people-centered approach.

In a statement, the ministry said that the scope of the meeting was to determine how Trinidad and Tobago can benefit from China’s Global Development Initiative. They also discussed possible technical cooperation for the country in different areas, including the digital economy, food production, urban development, and the establishment of greenhouses, among others.
