China rejects U.S. position on the Summit of the Americas

Zhao Lijian, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, urged the United States to abandon its unilateral policy following the decision to exclude Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua from the IX Summit of the Americas to be held in June 2022.

China announced the new “Disaster Relief Fund for Caribbean countries”

An e-summit was held on Friday, April 29, 2022, where China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced the establishment of a “Disaster Relief Fund for Caribbean countries”. Diplomatic representatives from the following nine nations attended the online meeting: Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados.

Chinese trade sets its sights on Latin America and the Caribbean

A study conducted by researchers at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile reveals that China’s relations with Latin America and the Caribbean are becoming increasingly closer. The study highlights that in recent decades investments made by the Asian country in the region have increased from $7 billion to $64 billion and that in the next few years.

The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is an annual event held in the People’s Republic of China to enable traders from all over the world to promote their products in order to establish trade in the Asian’s country’s market. The eighth version of the Expo took place in Shanghai, on November 5 – 10 this year.

XIV China – Latin America and the Caribbean Business Summit

The annual XIV China-Latin America and the Caribbean Business Summit, first held in 2007, was held this year on November 16 and 17, in the city of Chongqing. The Summit connected Chinese and Latin American businesspeople in a context of economic cooperation.
