Argentina and China launched a technology study center

Daniel Filmus, Minister of Science and Technology of Argentina, and Wang Zhigang, Minister of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), announced the launching of the China-Argentina Bi-National Center for the Study of Innovation and Technology Policies. The announcement was made on May 9th via videoconference with the participation of the Ambassador of the PRC in Argentina, Zou Xiaoli and the Ambassador of Argentina in China, Sabino Vaca Narvaja. Also present were the President of Conicet, the Undersecretary of Institutional Coordination, the Director of Science Policy Promotion, the Ministerial Advisor on International Affairs, and the Manager of the Connect Technology Transfer Office.
The creation of the center is subscribed under a memorandum of understanding and is intended to study China’s and Argentina’s recent science, technology, and innovation policies and their impact on economic and social development. An intelligent platform will be established to provide support for academics, scientific institutions, and companies from both countries, study financing mechanisms deployed by both countries for technology transfer processes, studies of global trends and initiatives in technological development, and exchanges on science and technology parks in order to promote knowledge transfer, among other purposes. The coordinating institutions for Argentina will be Conicet; and for China, the China Academy of Science and Technology for Development (Casted). The participating institutions for Argentina will be the MINCyT Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation; and for China, the China Science and Technology Exchange Center and the PRC Ministry of Science’s Torch High-Tech Industry Development Center.
