According to a report by the media outlet Puntual, the Argentine government announced the resumption of poultry meat exports to the People’s Republic of China. Additionally, to open the market for dried fruits such as almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, and others, as well as for gallstones, both nations signed the required sanitary protocols.
These developments took place during a meeting at the Palacio de Hacienda between Argentina’s Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the Vice Minister of China’s General Administration of Customs, Wang Lingjun.
The resumption of Argentina’s exports to China is positive news for producers in the sector, as before the suspension of poultry meat shipments to this country, that market accounted for 45% of total exports, representing 170 million dollars for the industry. This announcement was made through Joint Communiqué No. 38 of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and the GACC.
Likewise, the authorization to export additional products, such as dried fruits, creates new opportunities for regional economies, which have been working towards increasing their presence in the international market. It is worth noting that the Chinese market imports over 1 billion dollars in this sector.
On the other hand, this news is also beneficial for the gallstone market, as the People’s Republic of China has a high demand for this product in the country’s medical industry.
Moreover, this meeting helped define work priorities for 2025, including sanitary approvals such as protocols for fishery products, pork offal, and dried plums. Additionally, there is an ongoing goal to finalize negotiations for the export of bovine offal.
Last but not least, the Chinese delegation presented an initial version of the protocol for opening the market to legumes, including chickpeas, lentils, and beans.
