According to a report by *Reporte Minero*, the Argentine company EXAR, a lithium carbonate producer, obtained approval from Argentine Customs to become an export facility. With this authorization, the company will be able to ship cargoes of this mineral to the People’s Republic of China.
As a result, EXAR will continue transporting its goods to Buenos Aires for export. It is worth noting that a percentage of these shipments will take the Pacific Ocean route, a milestone that, according to the company, few Argentine firms have achieved. Additionally, the new authorization will allow shipments to be dispatched directly from its Cauchari-Olaroz plant to China through northern Chilean ports.
It has been confirmed that in February, the first shipment bound for international markets was successfully completed using a Chilean port. This initial shipment consists of ten trucks, which will facilitate the consolidation of containers before they are sent to the international market.
With this optimization in transportation logistics, cargo traceability will improve, as the goods will leave the plant sealed. Regarding this development, EXAR’s president, Simón Pérez Alsina, stated that this approval will enhance logistics, reinforce the company’s commitment to industry development, and solidify Jujuy’s role in the global lithium market.
Last but not least, it is important to highlight that EXAR became Argentina’s leading lithium producer in 2024. The company surpassed a production of 25,000 tons at its Cauchari-Olaroz plant and successfully exported 28,000 tons of this mineral through the ports of Buenos Aires.
