On September 17, the Retrospective Exhibition of Art Exchange between China and Latin America was inaugurated in the city of Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi province, located in the northwest of the Asian country. The title selected for the exhibition was “Sharing Beauty,” and it has been installed at the Shaanxi Provincial Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition has integrated 55 pieces of works by 26 artists from 13 Latin American countries, and has been presented under the framework of cooperation within the Silk Road initiative. Meng Xiangguo, deputy director general of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shaanxi Province attended the opening event.
The works presented are intended to integrate Chinese elements into Latin American artistic compositions. It should be noted that the Latin American Art Season is not a particularly recent initiative. It was established in 2013 and, since then, has participated more than 300 Latin American artists, including Colombian artist Luis Cantillo, who has been actively involved in the art season since 2015. He has strived to establish a bridge for cultural exchange between the two countries, leading the edition of the magazine “Friends of China,” sponsored by the Colombia-China Friendship Association in 2018.
