The Chinese furniture company Man Wah in Mexico will invest US$200 million to expand its plant in the state of Nuevo León, covering an area of 200,000 square meters and creating up to 8,000 new jobs. Man Wah Holdings Co., Ltd. is the No. 1 manufacturer and retailer of recliners in China and, in the Mexican region, produces recliners and recliner components.
During the factory’s inauguration ceremony, and at the installation of the first plant, the governor of Nuevo Leon, Samuel Garcia, emphasized that Nuevo Leon continues to be the best place to invest, noting that it ranks third in Latin America for foreign investment.
As expressed in the newspaper El Sol de México, the governor added: “There is no state in all of Mexico that has the potential and attraction of Nuevo León, so we welcome a transnational company to our land, Man Wah, world leaders in the furniture industry, present in more than 100 countries and with around 11 thousand employees worldwide“. At the same time, the Chinese company intends to undertake another round of investments of around 100 million dollars in a period of 3 to 5 years to build a second plant.
