Venezuela and the People’s Republic of China have signed a new agreement for the export of marine products to the Asian country. This agreement seeks to boost the Venezuelan fishing industry and allow it access to new international markets.
The signing of the agreement is not just an administrative procedure, but a sign of cooperation and long-term commitment. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting that this agreement will allow for the growth and bolster the well-being of regional fishermen as well as the entire nation.
This achievement is the result of meticulous negotiations and preparations, during which Venezuela complied with the international standards necessary for the export of hydrobiological species to international markets.
The protocol includes strict health standards to guarantee the quality and safety of exported marine products, which aims to benefit both Chinese consumers and the Venezuelan fishing industry by raising their standards of excellence.
Maduro highlighted that Venezuela is ready to enter international maritime trade with confidence and quality, stating that seafood is a “national treasure.” President Maduro ratified the agreement together with the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, and the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Venezuela, Lan Hu.
Besides the agreement over maritime goods, China and Venezuela have also struck a deal to begin commercial flights between the two countries.
Commercial flights are expected to begin operating in the coming months. The Minister of Popular Power for Transportation of Venezuela, Ramón Celestino Velá, assured that Conviasa, Venezuela’s flagship national airline, will materialize the air bridge with the guarantee of the good service and comfort offered by the airline.
The signing of the aerial cooperation agreement took place in Beijing, with the participation of aeronautical authorities from both countries, including the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Civil Aeronautical Authority of Venezuela. Conviasa will lead the establishment of the commercial route, facilitating connectivity between both states.
