As part of the bilateral cooperation agreements between the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Venezuela, the Venezuelan government signed a contract with the Chinese company Green Full for the installation of the country’s largest solar farm, which will be located in the Mérida region, specifically in the city of El Vigía.
Additionally, it was reported that the signing of this agreement took place at the “Don Luis Zambrano” thermoelectric plant. The new solar farm is expected to have a nominal capacity of 50 megawatts, covering more than 40% of the average electricity demand in the state of Mérida.
The Governor of Mérida, Jehyson Guzmán, stated that this agreement is part of a plan to strengthen the electricity service in the Andean region, an initiative promoted by President Nicolás Maduro. Furthermore, the bilateral cooperation agreements between both countries include the installation of 94,000 solar panels, according to reports from the regional government.
