Chinese financing to upgrade Argentina’s power grid
On January 13, the Argentine Energy Secretariat met with China Electric Power Equipment and Technology (CET) to sign a project for the construction of a new power transformer station in the South American country.
The meeting was led by the Secretary of State, Darío Martínez, together with the Undersecretary, Federico Basualdo, and the authorities of the Chinese company. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate the start of the construction of new works to guarantee a safe and reliable electricity supply in Argentina. The cost of this transaction will involve an investment of more than 1,100 million dollars, and the power line of this transformer will be 500/220/132 kV, with an extension of 500 km. This will cover the 40 municipalities in the Province of Buenos Aires. The purpose of this alliance is to reduce massive power outages.
