Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has stated that his government is currently in negotiations with China and South Korea to reach an agreement aimed at preventing the entry of fentanyl into the country. Recognizing the need for collaboration, he emphasized that there is a willingness from both China and South Korea to provide support in this matter. The illegal trafficking of fentanyl has strained Mexico’s relationship with the United States, as Mexican drug cartels have been accused of producing and distributing the drug, leading to a significant number of deaths each year in the United States. In response to these concerns, the United States has called for increased efforts from Mexico to address the issue. President López Obrador expressed optimism about establishing an agreement with both China and South Korea to effectively combat the entry of fentanyl into Mexico.
