The illegal trafficking of fentanyl has strained Mexico’s relationship with the United States, as Mexican drug cartels have been accused of producing and distributing the drug, leading to a significant number of deaths each year in the United States. In response to these concerns, the United States has called for increased efforts from Mexico to address the issue. President López Obrador expressed optimism about establishing an agreement with both China and South Korea to effectively combat the entry of fentanyl into Mexico.
