Venezuela and China review bilateral agenda
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Félix Plasencia, announced that he had met with the Ambassador of China, Li Baorong, to review the bilateral agenda with which they seek to deepen the strategic alliance between the two countries. In this context, it is important to point out that relations between the two countries have not been as strong for the last 10 to 15 years due to Venezuela’s institutional and economic crisis. China has also allocated several loans to the South American country, and still chooses to support the South American country politically and economically in order to maintain “sovereignty, independence and national stability” (BBC News Mundo, 2019).
The Venezuelan diplomat did not comment on the details or specific points they discussed on the bilateral agenda. On the other hand, Plasencia affirmed that during his meeting with the Chinese diplomat both parties confirmed their rejection of the imposition of “unilateral coercive measures” and the “multilateralist commitment to the defense of international law and the principles of the community of nations”.
