Ecuador terminates contract with China International Water & Electric Corporation

Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC) is a state-owned company engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, commercialization, import and export of electricity. CELEC completed the construction contract for the civil works of the Toachi Pilatón hydroelectric project, signed on December 24, 2020, with China International Water & Electric Corporation (CWE).

China listed as the main destination for Peruvian exports in February 2022

According to Idexcam data, Peruvian exports to the People’s Republic of China in the month of February 2022 reached US$4,595 million, representing an increase of 7% over the same period in 2021.  Thus, China is the main destination for Peruvian exports valued at a total of US$1,264 million.

Panama seeks a trade agreement with China if TPA is not renegotiated with the US

The United States and Panama signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2007. Producer unions and associations have been demanding that negotiations be opened to address the extension of the elimination of some of the country’s sensitive products. The Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, warned that “if the US does not accept, we would have to look for alternatives and that would be to export these products to other countries.” One of these alternatives would be to initiate a free trade agreement (FTA) with the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

The Zijin Mining Company will invest 380 million to build a lithium plant in Argentina

Chinese mining company Zijin will invest US$380 million through its subsidiary Liex to build a lithium carbonate plant in the province of Catamarca (Argentina).

Ecuador and China ratify their bilateral relationship

Belize and the Republic of China promote commercial cooperation
