Failed appointment of Andreas Pierotic as Ambassador to China
The Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs withdrew the appointment of the Chilean Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Andreas Pierotic, despite the fact that the decision was made after China granted the agreement requested by Chile at the beginning of March.
Commemoration of 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Guyana and the People’s Republic of China
June 27th marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Guyana and the People’s Republic of China. The Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Guo Haiyan, affirmed that the relationship between the two countries has a bright future.
Panama requests China’s accession to the Canal Neutrality Treaty
On April 4, 2022, Panama’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Érika Mouynes, began her Asian tour in an effort to advance and strengthen bilateral relations with the countries in the region. The first Asian country the Foreign Minister visited was China, where she expressed the importance of maintaining the neutrality of the Panama Canal in light of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Fifty years of diplomatic relations between Mexico and the People’s Republic of China
Political figures from both countries spoke at the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of these diplomatic relations. One of them was the President of the Board of the Senate of the Republic, Olga Sanchez Cordero, who endorsed the good faith that persists between the two nations.
2020: A decisive year the PRC’s digital diplomacy in Latin America and the Caribbean
At the end of 2020, Fundación Andrés Bello published a study titled (China’s communication with foreign audiences). The purpose of the research was to analyze the impact of the declaration of a global health emergency on the digital diplomacy of the People’s Republic of China in Latin America and the Caribbean during the first half of 2020. This document addresses the continuation of that study, extending the research period to December 31, 2020.
